NICARAGUA
CCUCC participates in the Nicaragua Scholarship program through the ASLA Foundation. The Asla Foundation was created to help children—who would otherwise be unable to attend school past the 6th grade—continue onto high school and college. Justice & Witness support of this scholarship helps fund Nicaraguan students like Zayda Vanessa Ruiz. Members of CCUCC exchange letters with Zayda. Our sponsorship has helped students during the COVID-19 pandemic and at a time when the cost of living is increasing in Nicaragua. Specifically, funds support the purchase of school supplies, lunches, transportation and school fees. The program continues to give 98 percent of donations to the educational needs of the students who receive scholarships. Every year, there are new students on the waiting list needing scholarship support.
If you’d like to make a donation, please make your check to CCUCC and write “Nicaragua scholarship” on the memo line or you can contribute through the Asla website: http://aslafoundation.org/donate/
