New Beginnings: Moving Forward

Thursday, November 12, 5:30–8:00pm

On Sunday, October 25 following church, a Congregational Meeting was held to vote on the New Beginnings Decision. Following the Congregational Meeting, The Deacons (using funds from the Our Many Gifts program) provided a fantastic catered lunch for church members and friends.  Thanks to Jim Harbour and Southfork for the great food!    For more information about the Big Decision, check out the November Communicator.

What’s Next, you ask?  Well, that is largely up to all of you.  How do we move forward to best address our goals?  We need the thoughts and ideas of active participants at CCUCC, so please join us on Thursday evening, November 12, 5:30 pm at the church.  We’ll provide pizza and a great venue to talk about the nuts and bolts of a plan of action moving forward.  Call or email the church office if childcare would be helpful.

New Beginnings is a process of discovering the intersection of our church’s passions, skills, and resources. Six groups made up of church participants have met four times in May and June. These New Beginnings groups are finishing their final two meetings in late August and early September. Each group will make a decision regarding church priorities.

On Monday, September 14 New Beginnings group leaders will meet to find a consensus to present to the church council and congregation. That “Big Decision” will help us to focus our energies so that our church will remain a vital presence in our community and in our lives. It will also help guide us as we prepare to search for a settled pastor. Thanks to all of you for your energies, insights, and faithfulness in this exciting time of transition. Thanks especially to the New Beginnings leaders for their inspired and skillful guidance: Herb and Jann Hill, Monica Johnson and Stephanie Kane, Kym Dye and Barbara Johnson, Mike and Lynn McCollough, Sandy Evenson and Sue Kreikemeier, Beth Waddel and Bill Condon.

Information about New Beginnings

NEW BEGINNINGS—Monday, May 18, 7:00-9:00 pm

The next step in the New Beginnings process is an all-congregation meeting 7 PM Monday May 18 in our church.

Dr. Ruth Fletcher will lead the meeting. Dr. Fletcher is from Great Falls, Montana, where she works with the Disciples of Christ and New Beginnings.

In that meeting, Dr. Fletcher will explain to all of us the process that we will use to make Big Decisions about the life of our church.

The process includes participation in a series of small group discussions led by people in the church who have already volunteered. In those meetings, we will learn what is in our church assessment report.

The Group Discussion leaders, meeting dates, times, and places are listed below. Please sign up for one of the groups in church May 17, or on Monday May 18 at the 7 PM meeting in the church.

We hope to see all of you 7 PM Monday May 18 and in the small group meetings!
