Advent Crafts and Fabulous Meal!

Sunday, December 7 following worship

Everyone is invited to join in making holiday crafts including Advent wreaths, ornaments, and a variety of other things to help us begin the season of Advent.  Members of the Board of Christian Education have planned the projects and provided lunch as well.  Kids can start right in after worship.  Adults are invited to attend the Congregational Meeting in the sanctuary, then come down to Fellowship Hall for the festivities (and sustenance).  Homemade soups and breads will abound!

Recycled Art Project

We still needs lots of caps and lids!  I know its hard to believe, but we need many different colors and sizes of caps and lids in order to have enough to design and assemble a GIGANTIC mosaic symbolizing peace.  We are hatching plans to create panels to prop against the (ugly, grafittied) concrete retaining wall across Campus St, behind our neighborhood garden.  We need as many of these caps/lids as you can save, in as many colors as possible, so please don’t throw them away!  Save them and  bring them to the church as soon as you are able.  Thanks!

Learning Community Christmas Program

Come experience  “A Super Christmas” with our children and youth as they provide a different take on the ancient story.  Dress rehearsal on Saturday, December 15 at 10:30 am at the church.  Every child is invited to participate and can find a costume by arriving a bit early on Sunday morning.

Summer Learning Community

This summer our young people will be having a Summer of Peace!  They’ll be learning ways to create peace within themselves, with one another, and with all creation.  They’ll learn things like non-violent communication, media literacy, ecology, etc.  They’ll use their creativity in fun ways.  They’ll discover Peace Heroes such as Peace Pilgrim, Gandhi, Badshah Khan, and Rabbi Abraham Heschel.  We’ll kick all of this off with an intergenerational worship service on Sunday, June 10 that is all about peace.  Sounds like a great summer, doesn’t it?  If you’d like to help out by volunteering to teach or assist one Sunday, we’d love to have you.  Please let Chandra Crow know if you can help.  Thanks!
