The Longest Night
Thursday, December 18 at 7:00 pm
The winter holidays can be difficult for many of us, even in the midst of tinsel and carols and the sweet smells of the season. The strong emphasis on family and togetherness can highlight the loneliness of those who are separated from loved ones. The anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation – all these can make us feel very alone in the midst of the celebrating and spending.
This simple time of worship, held in intimate, candlelit Brewster Hall, provides space and time to join with others for reflection and to acknowledge our sadness and concerns. Beautiful seasonal music– Daniella Clark playing the harp and Kathy Spencer on keyboard– accompanies readings, prayers and candle lighting.
